“Hollow Built Figure Sculpture and Kiln-Fired Surfaces”
December 6, 7 & 14, 2013
Friday- Saturday and following Saturday, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Tuition $395 + $35. glaze/firing fee
During the first two days, students will work in water-based clay using slab building techniques to create small scale heads and torsos in the form of wall masks, figurative drinking cups and/or free standing sculptures. On the third day of the workshop, students will apply translucent underglazes as stains and washes of color similar to water color techniques. The pieces will be glaze fired after the workshop. All levels of experience are welcome. Jane will encourage participants to work loosely focusing on responding expressively to the clay as it takes on form and gesture.
